Republican Ryan Weld has won his re-election bid for Senate District 1, defeating Democratic opponent Randy Swartzmiller.

Weld expressed gratitude on his Facebook page on Nov. 3.

“Tonight’s victory was the culmination of not just the months of hard work put into our campaign, but most importantly, the work of the past four years as your senator.  I am honored by the support of the people of the First District and am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue serving as your voice in Charleston.  Thank you.”
