9.5% of Hancock County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Hancock County recorded an unemployment rate of 9.5% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 1,329 people out of the 29,223 living in Hancock County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Hancock County has increased compared to the 8.1% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Hancock County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 6.4%.

Of the 12,721 people who had a job during that time, 29 were employed in the Armed Forces and 12,692 belonged to the civilian labor force.
