Do you think you can dance? If so and you’re an area high school junior or senior, join West Liberty University students in an all-new dance competition this spring.

“We are hosting a dance competition in the style of the popular TV show, ‘So You think You Can Dance,’ and we encourage any junior or senior high school student to complete our online registration to take part in the event now,” said WLU Professor Michael Aulick, who serves as the theater director on campus.

The competition is open to all WLU students along with all high school juniors and seniors in the state of West Virginia and the surrounding counties of what is known as the metro region of West Liberty (linked here).

Registrations will be accepted only until March 17 and the competition, which is open to the public, will take place on Wednesday, March 29 in Kelly Theater. The winners of the competition will be selected by a professional panel of judges.

COMPETITION REQUIREMENTSDancers will perform a prepared solo (no more than 3:00 minutes long) in the style of their choice, as well as take part in the opening number taught on the day of the event by Jill Warren, WLU dance instructor.

All Participants will be required to be on WLU’s campus and in the Hall of Fine Arts, room F210 by 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 to learn the opening dance number, choreographed by Warren.
