Indoor Track Gives Their All in Last Chance Meet

The Wheeling University Indoor Track & Field team continues their run to Nationals as seven athletes competed in the Fast Track Last Chance Meet in Staten Island, New York. It was a strong day for the Cardinals as they had several top five finishes and put out a strong case for the National Championships. The 60-Meter Hurdle team had the strongest showing as Moses Koroma wrote his name in the Wheeling history books .

That 60 Meter Hurdles team had four competitors on the day with Moses Koroma, Julian Griffin, Lorenzo Pelham, and Damian Jackson leading the way. After running an 8.09 in the prelims, Koroma set a big PR in the finals. He ran a 7.92 and put up the 2nd fastest time in school history. Griffin and Pelham were the final two to qualify for the finals and took home fifth and sixth respectively. Griffin ran an 8.04 while Pelham was right behind him at 8.17 to round out the day. The other sprinter to compete was Jabez Reeves, who ran in both the 60 Meter and 200 Meter dash on the night. He competed in the invitational heat of the 60-Meter, and placed 20th with a time of 7.20 seconds. However, Reeve's best performance was in the 200-Meter where he took fifth place with a time of 22.01.

Three women competed for the Cardinals on the day, with two on the track. Junior Isha Sesay was in the 60-Meter Hurdles and was able to qualify for the finals with a time of 9.01 seconds. Sesay came back in the finals and finished 6th with a time of 8.92 seconds, dropping her time by .09 seconds. Caroline Fodor was the final track athlete for the Cardinals, running a 2:16.18 to take home fifth in the event. The Cardinals now wait for the announcement of who qualifies for the NCAA DII National Championships in March.

The Wheeling Indoor Track & field season now comes to an end as the team prepares to see who will make the National Championships March 10th and 11th in Virginia Beach, VA.
