West Liberty's Nyia Setla has earned a spot on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Atlantic Region team, announced today by the organization.
Setla is one of three liberos and 14 players in the Atlantic Region to earn the honor. A standout on the back line for the Hilltoppers all season, she helped propel the team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history last week.
The sophomore from Northville, Mich. ended the season with 707 total digs for an average of 5.80 per set, playing in all 34 matches and 122 sets for the Black and Gold. The impressive totals rank first in the Mountain East Conference and third in all of Division II for both total digs and the per set average.
Setla also earned first team All-Atlantic Region from the D2CCA, was named the MEC Libero of the Year, and garnered first team all-conference honors. She is just the third Hilltopper in program history to earn the AVCA All-Region honor and first libero.
