Banks Places 20th, Both Qualify for finals on Day Two of Oberlin Invitational

After putting one swimmer in the finals on Day one of the Oberlin Invitational, the Wheeling University Men's Swimming team came back stronger on day two. Both of their swimmers did enough to qualify for the day two finals as they continue to lower times. The Cardinals had one top 20 finisher on the day as Wheeling finishes day two with 11 team points.

Both swimmers swam one event on the day, and both were able to do enough to be considered for the finals. Leading the way on day two once again was junior Ethan Banks, who swam in the 200 Yard Freestyle. He began the day in the prelims where he had his best swim of the day placing 18th with a time of 1:52.13. It was enough to qualify him for the C Final of the event and set a new PR by just over one second. He would compete in the C Finals of the event and ended up dropping two spots from his prelim finish to 20th. He swam just twenty tenths of a second slower than his prelim time and earned his second C Final swim of the event.

The other Men's Swimmer in the pool was Nathan. Yosr who took on his second event of the Invitational in the 100 Yard Fly. He came into the event with a seed time of just over 59 seconds and was able to drop that time by three seconds. He placed 25th in the field with a time of 56.34 and was named a alternate for the Finals. While he didn't get the opportunity to race in the finals of the event, it was still a strong showing as he was considered for the finals at Oberlin for the first time in his career.

Because of weather coming into the Oberlin area, day three of the Oberlin Invitational has been cut to just one session at 10 AM. You can watch all the action live by clicking HERE or follow along with Live Stats by clicking HERE.
