Hannah Kemp earned a spot on the podium for the third straight season with a third-place finish in this morning's Mountain East Conference Championship meet at Oglebay Resort's Crispin Golf Course.
Kemp battled through the hilly 6k course and turned in a 24:14.28, crossing the line third out of 69 runners to claim a spot on first team All-MEC.
As a team, the Hilltoppers finished in 5th place for the second straight year at an average time of 28:11.91. The University of Charleston claimed gold with six runners in the top 10.
The remaining quintet of Hilltoppers finished all within 10 spots of each other. Savannah Moorehead paced the group with a 28:57 in 34th place, Ally Hicks was 14 seconds and two places behind. Morgan Lesnansky ran a 29:27 two spots back of Hicks, then Shania Keene and Blake Hull rounded out the group in 42nd and 43rd place finishing less than a second apart.
Championship racing continues for West Liberty in two weeks with a trip to the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships in Mansfield, Pa on the schedule.
