Bethany Student Selected to Receive Blanche L. Reymann Scholarship

BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College and the West Virginia State Society Daughters of the American Revolution are pleased to announce Bethany senior Kaitlyn Adkins as the 2022 Blanche L. Reymann Scholarship recipient.

The scholarship honors Blanche Louise Keating, who was a charter member of the Wheeling Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as the Chapter Regent from 1923-1926 and State Regent from 1931-1933. Due to the depression and debt of Constitution Hall, at that time, she could not have a state project, so she focused her administration on “Education in West Virginia.” Following her death, the Blanche L. Reymann Memorial Student Loan Fund was established in her memory by personal monetary contribution from her three daughters.

The West Virginia State Society DAR voted in 1967 to award the scholarship annually to a female student entering her senior year in the upper one-third of her class academically.

“Kaitlyn’s academic achievements are commendable, but it is her ambitions beyond graduation that set her apart,” says Lisa McNeil, chair of Blanche L Reymann Foundation. “WVDAR is honored to present the Blanche L. Reymann Scholarship to this exceptional student.”

Adkins is currently studying psychology and plans to further her education after graduation in hopes of eventually working in the psychology field with children.

“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity I have been given to expand my education,” says Adkins. “The scholarship will be used to help me pay for my final year at Bethany, and I could not be more grateful and honored to have been chosen.”

“We are especially pleased to present the Blanche L. Reymann Scholarship to a Bethany College student because Mrs. Reymann was the Regent of the local Wheeling Chapter,” says Jane Larke, state regent of the WV DAR. “The Daughters of the American Revolution is known for its support of education, focus on patriotism, and historic preservation and has many scholarships available.”
