Sistersville Center, owned by Genesis WV Holdings, LLC as of the first quarter of 2026, remained under this ownership since April 1, 2011, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Located in Tyler County, the nursing home operates as a for-profit facility.

Sistersville Center holds for-profit registration.

In that period, the center received an overall CMS rating of 1, falling below West Virginia’s state nursing home average of 2.9. The CMS rating system considers vital factors including health inspection performance, staffing, and resident care quality.

Census data for early 2026 shows Sistersville Center provided care for an average of 62.1 residents daily, with a capacity of 68 beds. The facility is currently not based within a hospital.

During the first quarter of 2026, the center incurred $38,255 in fines and faced one total penalty.

Tyler County had one for-profit nursing home in total, which was Sistersville Center.

U.S. Census Bureau data show the nation’s older population continues its growth as numbers among younger groups decline. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 and over rose by 13%, while those under 18 declined by 1.7%. The older adult population has markedly increased in the past century, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

Research from a 2021 study indicates almost half of Americans in this age group, close to 28 million people, may need long-term services and supports. More than a third could need nursing home care at some stage in their lives.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
