Catholic Charities West Virginia has announced a merger with St. Ursula Food Pantry & Outreach Center in Pursglove, West Virginia. This partnership aims to enhance and expand hunger relief services for individuals and families in Monongalia County.

St. Ursula Food Pantry & Outreach Center has been providing essential food assistance to households living at or below the poverty level. Their services include scheduled pantry appointments, emergency food distribution, and a Baby and Toddler Program, serving communities west of the Monongahela River and the Town of Star City.

“St. Ursula Food Pantry & Outreach has faithfully served our neighbors in need with dignity and compassion,” said Ashlie Kotson, Northern Regional Director of Catholic Charities West Virginia. “We are honored to join together to continue and grow this mission, guided by our shared commitment to Catholic social teaching and to building stronger, healthier communities.”

The merger is part of Catholic Charities’ efforts to collaborate with community partners for effective solutions to poverty. The St. Ursula site will gain increased access to regional food distribution networks and operational support while maintaining its community spirit.

St. Ursula Food Pantry & Outreach is affiliated with the United Way Family Resource Network Food and Hunger Committee and the Mountaineer Food Bank. It actively participates in community food drives and Empty Bowls Monongalia.

“This merger is a powerful way to reach more people with the care and compassion they deserve. St. Ursula Food Pantry has been a lifeline in this community, and together, we’ll build on that foundation to serve more families, meet urgent needs, and bring hope to those we serve,” stated Mark Phillips, President and CEO of Catholic Charities West Virginia.

Catholic Charities West Virginia serves all 55 counties in the state as the largest private social service provider, offering compassionate care regardless of faith or background.
